(M/V) Bigbang-Let me hear your voice

Thursday, November 5, 2009

New Japanese Bigbang music video! for their song Koe wo kikasete (let me hear your voice).
check it out!

Bigbang- Koe wo kikasete

This video is incredibly plain, so much so it hurt. I like looking at Bigbang as much as everyone else, but I really wanted something to happen. Come on drive a car, walk down a street, give me something this barely held my attention. Compared to their other MV's this one is seriously weak, with it's bland colors and repetitive close up's. I still love Bigbang but It needed more a lot more. Did anyone else notice the random clip of Taeyang running whats up with that it didn't even match ugh. The more I think about it the more it aggravates me.

Younha new MV - "Sukinanda"

Saturday, October 31, 2009

The very talented and beautiful singer who has been dubbed "The Oricon Comet" for topping the charts in Japan recently has released a MV for her new single called 好きなんだ(Sukinanda), which means "I Like You." The single will be released on November 18th. It will be in CD format and has only two tracks: 1. Sukinanda and 2. Sunday.

The MV doesnt have much of a storyline, but shows Younha in different scenes around Japan with her cellphone, listening to mp3 and her guitar. I like that the video is very simple and cute and I can focus more on the song and her pretty voice :) She's so talented. I want to hear more songs from her!

PS: I absolutely love her cellphone!

Check out Younha's - "Sukinanda":

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Japanese pop diva, Ayumi Hamasaki, at only 31 is making sure that her place in the afterlife will be as lavish as possible. According to tabloid 'Nikkan Sports,' she has been reported to have purchased a prime piece of land in the Aoyama Cemeteryand intends to make it her family's resting ground.

The "neighborhood" had many graves with exquisite designs and houses the remains of many other famous Japanese people. According to the same tabloid, Hamasaki's mother has already designed a tombstone with the carved words "Hamasaki Family" in English and Japanese characters.

>I think it's great to think ahead, even planning for the afterlife. Somehow it seems like an omen to buy a grave site at such a young age.. but what more can I expect from the extravagant pop idol. Much love Ayumi-chan!~

Jpop icon Crystal Kay celebrates 10 years

Monday, October 19, 2009

Crystal Kay, 23, is the pioneer for interracial artists in Japan. She was born to African American U.S. service father and a South Korean mother. "There is still come racial things going on," claims a mild-mannered Crystal Kay. "Some people can't accept there are a lot of foreigners out there, even in the industry." "I consider myself a Japanese artist because I was born and raised here, but nationality-wise I look, and am, foreign."

Crystal Kay grew up in Yokohama to a musical family. Her mother was a singer and her father wrote music for fun. She was even lucky enough to meet legends like Diana Ross and Bobby Brown as a child. She loved Michael and Janet Jackson, Speed and Namie Amuro.

Kay debuted, at only 13 years old with her "Eternal Memories" song in 1999, in a time when J-Pop world wasn't very influenced by foreign music. But Crystal and many others have had a great impact on the J-Pop scene that is increasingly recognizing mixed race acts. "It's very flattering to be acknowledged as one of the first, if someone tells me that my music means something. Hopefully I can set a good example!" Now, she has eight top 10 albums and is currently celebrating 10 years in the business with her her first "Best of" collection and a tour!

Her rise to the top of the charts shows the mass appeal for R&B in Hip Hop influenced by a new generation of singers, such as Japanese artists like Koda Kumi. Others include Anna Tsuchiya (half Polish American) and popular African American enka singer Jero.

Her desire to ht the international scene still remains. She had hoped to do it by 18, but she sees the 10-year celebration as a turning point in her career and the right time to plan much further ahead.

"In these 10 years I have been all over the place, and that's a good thing. I got to experience a lot of things musically, bot now I think its time for me to create something a little more focused, which suits me best and what says 'This is Crystal's style.'"

Best of Crystal Kay was released on September 2, 2009

BOA- Bump Bump

Saturday, October 17, 2009

Check out BOA's new Japanese single with m-flo "Bump Bump".

I became a fan of BOA after her US debut and she has continued to impress me ever since. She's truly an amazing artist great dancer and singer. I Love how she never uses a sexy image to promote herself. Back to the video! I really liked how the dancers kind of mimed to the song very funny. Other then that the video was pretty simple a room with her dancing in it. I kind of wish there was at least one scene change.

Anna Tsuchiya Pregnant with 2nd Child!

Saturday, September 19, 2009

Singer and model Anna Tsuchiya (25) announced on her blog on today that she is currently pregnant. She and the father, a stylist named Yamato (who is three years younger), are expecting to register their marriage soon.

Yamato has been Tsuchiya's stylist for many years now. Their relationship apparently started about 2 years ago. Tsuchiya is said to be three months pregnant now(seen in the pic above), with the baby due in spring. Doesn't she look very motherly?

Tsuchiya was previously married to model Joshua for two years (2004-2006). They also had one son together. Joshua unfortunately suddenly passed away last year at the age of 25.

I just want to say, congrats to Anna and Yamato and I hope they will have a beautiful and healthy baby together!

Amuro's new DVD is #1 on Oricon charts

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Singer Namie Amuro's new live DVD "namie amuro Best Fiction tour 2008-2009," has topped the Oricon weekly charts for the week of September 15-21 in DVD and Blue-ray sales. This is her first time to hit number 1 spot on both these charts. She has also received record sales of a DVD from a female artist, having sold 1.55 million copies, in only about a week, since the DVD went on sale September 9.

Namie Amuro has been singing and performing for about 17 years now and is still going. It's an amazing accomplishment in a pop culture world, which is highly competitive, and where singers are just a fad and don't last even a year.

I love her personality, her music, dance and her style. Plus, she looks amazing for being over 30!  Congrats Amuro! Hope you continue to have more success in the future. I will always support you!

Here's a sample of the DVD

(M/V) w-inds "Rain is Falling (Ft. Big Bangs' GDragon

Sunday, September 6, 2009

Just an interesting find from my late night web-surfings - This is the music video GDragon created with Japanese boy-band w-inds. It's cool to see GDragon be apart of Japanese pop. I'm not familiar with w-inds though, I think they were popular 5 years ago, but maybe they're still big in Japan. I wasn't expecting the whole song to be in English, but it's kinda catchy..has a hint of disco.

What do you think about this w-inds/GDragon pairing?

Smap #1 and Arashi reaches 1 million!

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

SMAP managed to come out on top of the weekly charts with their newest single, "Sotto Kyutto / Superstar." The song ended its first week with close to 105,000 in sales, overcoming the early lead taken by girl group AKB48's "Iiwake Maybe." The girls were not far behind at #2 for the week, with 91,000 copies sold.

For SMAP, "Sotto Kyutto" is their 11th consecutive (22nd overall) #1 single. It is also their 44th consecutive top ten single, which puts them one ahead of B'z. Ayumi Hamasaki is currently the only other artist who has released 44 top ten singles.

Three "K-On!" character singles ranked highly, occupying the #3, #5, and #6 spots. Spitz came in at #7, while abingdon boys school took #8 and Buono! took #10.

On the album charts, Arashi kept the #1 seat with their "All the BEST! 1999-2009," which sold an additional 233,000 copies for the week. On the daily charts of August 31, in the album's 13th day on sale, the album reached 1 million in total sales, making it Arashi's first million-seller. It is also the first album of 2009 to break 1 million.

Acid Black Cherry's new album charted at #2 with 78,000 copies sold. A pair of best albums by Vocaloid virtual idol Miku Hatsune ranked #4 and #5. Other new releases in the top ten were a drama CD for "Hetalia: Axis Powers" (#6), a best album by capsule (#7), a soundtrack for "PLAYZONE 2009" (#8), and a mini-album by Hiroshi Kamiya (#9).

AKB48 surpasses SMAP?

Friday, August 28, 2009

There are 48 members in this group! and you thought Super junior was alot of people.

As evidence of their growing popularity, the latest single by the idol group AKB48 ranked #1 on the daily charts, outperforming even SMAP's newest song. According to Oricon, AKB48's "Iiwake Maybe" had estimated sales of more than 57,000 copies in its first day, compared to less than 31,000 copies for SMAP's "Sotto Kyutto / Superstar." Both were released on August 26.

Before this, AKB48 had never reached #1 on the daily or weekly charts. At this rate, "Iiwake Maybe" is on track to become their first chart-topper when the weekly sales numbers are published next week. SMAP, on the other hand, has already put out 21 number-one singles, including their last 10 releases before "Sotto Kyutto."

Meanwhile, popular anime series "K-On!" occupied the #3 to #5 slots with three new character singles. Last month, the show managed to become the first anime series to reach #1 with a character album.

Akb48- Iiwake Maybe

This video felt so long. Here's the shorten version of the beginning. Two girls have fight, one says sorry other says not good enough, then ride bikes to make up and sing. I won't lie to you I fast forwarded through most of that part, so sorry if this translation is lacking. Seriously though can we just get to the dancing, I was wondering if I clicked the right thing at first like what is this a drama.

On Thursday, New York Anime Festival officially confirmed that idol group AKB48 will be attending this year's convention (September 25-27) as a musical guest. Japanese media had been reporting since early July that the group was scheduled to perform in New York in September.

According to event organizers, AKB48 will participate in a Q&A session and an autograph signing. In addition, they will hold a short concert at the Jacob Javits Center on September 26, followed by a free concert at Webster Hall on September 27.

The announcement did not specify which members of AKB48 will be attending. More details should be coming soon. I now ill be their anyway (at the convention) so ill be sure to take lots off pictures and videos for you guys.I'll try to get an autograph but I seriously doubt it. I remember when T.M revolution came yeah that line was impossible and some people had even camped out the previous day! that's just to much for me.

(M/V)SMAP- Sotto kyutto

Check out SMAP's new single Sotto Kyutto (superstar)

This song is very sweet but a tad bit boring to me, maybe I'm just not a ballad person?

If you don't know anything about SMAP here's some wiki knowledge for you "SMAP is a popular Japanese "idol" group, formed by Johnny's Entertainment office. Current members are Masahiro Nakai, Takuya Kimura, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Goro Inagaki and Shingo Katori. (Please note, names are given here in Western personal name-family name order.) The members of SMAP have dominated the Japanese pop cultural landscape from their musical debut in 1991 until the present time (as of 2005), showing incredible longevity for a manufactured group. They produce not just numerous hit singles, but also star in numerous television variety shows, dorama, commercials, movies, etc. They are almost unrivaled in their immense popularity among younger, and especially female, Japanese."
